AEM 5772 - Introduction
Octadecyldimethyl (3-trihydroxysilanyl) amino hydrochloride is an organosilicon compound, commonly abbreviated as TEAOS. The following is a description of the nature, use, formulation and safety information of TEAOS:
Nature:
1. Appearance: TEAOS is colorless or yellowish liquid.
2. Solubility: Soluble in organic solvents, such as ethanol, methanol, ethers, etc.
3. Thermal stability: better stability at higher temperatures.
Use:
1. Surfactant: TEAOS can be used as a surfactant, for example, as a dispersant, wetting agent and moisturizer in coatings and inks.
2. Silicone rubber precursor: TEAOS can be used as a precursor for preparing silicone rubber to improve the mechanical properties and heat resistance of rubber.
3. Synthesis of silicon materials: TEAOS can be used as a precursor in the synthesis process of silicon materials for the preparation of inorganic silicon materials such as silicate esters and silica gels.
Preparation Method:
TEAOS is obtained by the reaction of octadecyltrimethylchlorosilane with triethanolamine in dichloromethane or xylene. The preparation process requires heating and stirring, while strictly controlling the reaction temperature and reaction time.
Safety Information:
1. TEAOS is an organic silicon compound, and care should be taken to avoid skin contact and inhalation during use.
2. Use should wear appropriate protective equipment, such as gloves, protective glasses and protective masks.
3. TEAOS should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from high temperature and fire.
